Central Sterilization Assistant - School of Dental Medicine

Clinical Affairs supports clinical and educational efforts within the preclinical learning, student laboratory, and patient treatment areas at the dental school. As a key part of Clinical Affairs, the Central Sterilization Facility personnel is responsible for the security of equipment and the sterilization processing of Instruments used in patient care within the Dental School.

Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and instruments used by the Dental School; follow instrument tracking system protocols; service all dispensaries throughout the building; maintain adequate par levels; follow current infection control practices; be conscientious with regards to procedures and all duties relative to the department.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques.
  • Must be teamwork orientated.
  • Self-starting individual with good judgement/maturity.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Certifications/License: Certified (CRCST or CBSPD) through IAHCSMM from an accredited Central Service Technical Training program; current CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Be able to interact effectively with people at all levels from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to organize.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Hours Monday Friday, 2:30pm- 11:30pm. Weekend work is required for student licensing exams. The hours are 6:00am-6:00pm Saturday and Sunday. Approx. 5-8 events per year.
