Postdoctoral Associate

Position Summary:
The Virginia Tech Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is searching for multiple postdoctoral associates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering who have a simultaneous interest in conducting research and teaching graduates/undergraduates in the field. The postdocs will be supported either by the Bradley endowment, which requires US citizenship, or by the Webber endowment, which supports female engineers of any nationality. Postdocs will be partnered with a faculty mentor that is appropriate to their research discipline. Candidates from underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply and also those people who are interested in pursuing a career in academia. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility for a one year extension. The salary for this position is very competitive.
Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral associate will be expected to participate in research group meetings and to interact productively with graduate and undergraduate students under the advisement of their faculty mentor. The postdoc will be expected to teach at least one undergraduate or graduate course and will receive teaching mentorship from the faculty. The postdoctoral associate will also be expected to make presentations regarding his/her research, to publish the original results of research in high-impact journals or conferences, and to participate in grant proposal preparation.

Required Qualifications:
- A recent Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Have published in peer-reviewed publications or respected conferences as their sub-discipline emphasizes.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Desirable characteristics include a strong interest in teaching,
- Good interpersonal and communication skills,
- Effective work habits,
- Ability to work as part of a team.
