Computer Technical Support Consultant 2 (UCP 7) REVISED REPOST


The University of Connecticut Information Technology Services is seeking a proactive individual with strong organizational, communications and technical skills to provide technical support for the Learning Management System at UConn.

The successful candidate must have a very well-rounded set of technical skills and experience which include application administration and new product/feature implementations. The candidate must work successfully with teammates and have the ability to work independently, as well, to advance initiatives forward.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide application administration support for Learning Management System
  • Work with ITS teams and academic partners to ensure application requirements are met
  • Analyze system logs to investigate application malfunction or user reported problems
  • Analyze and design solutions to meet the business requirements
  • Develop and execute test plans for upgrades and customizations
  • Produce detailed and accurate documentation related to assigned tasks
  • Assist in all duties required for production support
  • Be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a problem-solver
  • Work with the vendor support teams to establish, track, and manage support cases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience
  2. Experience with relational database concepts
  3. Experience developing written documentation and operating instructions
  4. Excellent written and communication skills and interpersonal skills
  5. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  6. The ability to work with a diverse user community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience with administration of an enterprise application system.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage large or complex projects to achieve timely, successful completion
  3. Experience with database data analytics via SQL tools
  4. Experience with Perl, Python or similar scripting language
  5. Experience with XML
  6. Experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting
  7. Experience creating SQL reports
