RESPONSIBILITIES: John Tyler Community College is seeking a Scholarship Program Administrator. The scholarship program administrator provides oversight and direction to the Foundation's scholarship program. This position demands an integration of complex functions relating to the implementation of the scholarship program, including student advising on the process, coordination with other departments such as business office, academics and financial aid, preparation of materials and information for donor stewardship, events management, oversight of the application and awarding process, marketing of the scholarship program and preparation of payment vouchers, invoices and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
- Considerable knowledge of regulations and laws related to college scholarship programs, academic program requirements, data reporting and release, and customer service practices and principles.
- Experience in counseling or advising students.
- Experience managing a scholarship program.
- Ability to handle complex tasks concurrently.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience organizing events.
- High level of competency operating a personal computer and use current software packages including Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, Access.
- Experience working with student information systems.
- Experience working with boards and committees, including meeting preparation/logistics, material preparation and minutes.
- Ability to work independently as well as proven flexibility to work within a team environment and with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to use judgment and analytical skills to organize and prioritize work and problem-solve.
- Commitment to the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
Successful completion of criminal background check will be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience working with donors is preferred.
