Position Summary:
Enterprise Systems (ES) is a unit within the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Enterprise Systems supports the mission of the university by developing, coordinating, and managing application software systems that provide critical information services for university constituents. Business Application and Integration Services is seeking motivated individuals interested in using technology to solve business problems within a dynamic evolving technical environment.
The Web Developer responsibilities include:
• Research, analyze, develop, maintain, and modify innovative information system solutions that model complex business processes in a diverse technical environment while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and maintainability. The technical environment includes database development using SQL , application development (web, batch, services, etc.) using Java, JavaScript, or .Net (C# and VB) and related frameworks.
• Work as part of a team to implement, maintain, support, and enhance integrations between our primary ERP system Ellucian Banner, Blackbaud CRM , Blackbaud Internet Services, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Campaign, other vendor purchased ancillary systems (both locally hosted and cloud based), locally developed systems, and external entities.
• Provide technical support to campus administrative offices for ES supported systems.
• Strive to understand business processes and be able to apply this understanding to operational improvement initiatives
• Communicate effectively with a broad range of users about information technology issues.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and or relevant equivalent work experience
• Exposure to business process analysis and requirements gathering concepts
• Exposure to systems analysis concepts
• Exposure to relational database concepts
• Exposure to one or more modern object-oriented programming languages
• Experience with web development technologies such as HTML , CSS , or JavaScript
• Demonstrated skills in working effectively in a team environment
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
• Demonstrated experience with the development of production web applications, APIs, and/or processes that use a database system.
• Demonstrated experience using modern development and design methodologies in one or more programming language.
• Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with functional stakeholders, including senior leaders, and technical professionals
• Experience developing and documenting business requirements, design specifications, use cases, or test cases
• Experience with business processes and applications supporting higher education
• Experience modifying Blackbaud CRM or BBIS
• Experience using the Blackbaud Infinity SDK
• Experience developing for or maintaining Adobe Experience Manager
• Experience with Adobe Campaign
• Experience using one or more programming languages to perform database queries, modifications, and database transactions
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T- SQL development, or the .Net 4.0 framework
• Experience developing SOAP , REST , or ASP . NET web services.
• Experience with Test Driven Development ( TDD ) and/or Agile Development
• Experience with object-oriented programming ( OOP ) and/or object-oriented analysis and design ( OOAD )
• Experience with Java
• Experience with JSP , ASP , AJAX , HTML 5, or CSS 3
• Experience with JSON or XML
• Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery, Bootstrap, or AngularJS
• Experience using build and dependency management tools such as Maven
• Experience using a version control system such as Git
• Exposure to working within a Unix/Linux environment including BASH or KORN shell scripting
