Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting, Tenure-Track Faculty

The Jones College of Business Department of Accounting at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for the Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting. This position is at the associate or professor rank. Tenure upon appointment possible. The position begins August 1, 2018.

The chairholder is expected to be an accomplished leader in the accounting academic community. Through teaching, research and service to the community, the chairholder will attract national and international attention to MTSU . Applicants should provide evidence of scholarly excellence and impact.

The holder of the Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting will be expected to:
• Build partnerships with external constituents and foster a culture of engagement and interaction with the business and professional communities;
• Organize and provide seminars and workshops for the various audiences served by the accounting discipline;
• Publish research in high impact scholarly/practitioner journals (Journals ranked A* and A by the ABDC or with an ABS2015 score of 3 and above will provide evidence of high scholarly impact);
• Engage in innovative and effective teaching;
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Department, College, and the University to enhance research output; and
• Play a leading role in learned societies.

MTSU is a Carnegie Doctoral Research Intensive University with approximately 22,000 students located 35 miles southeast of Nashville. The university offers, through eight colleges and 38 academic departments, baccalaureate instruction in the liberal and fine arts, the sciences, education, business, media and entertainment, and a variety of other fields. Graduate programs are offered at the master's, specialist, and doctoral levels.

The Jones College of Business offers an undergraduate degree in accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree. The Department of Accounting holds its own accreditation from AACSB .

Required Education
Doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution or master's degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field along with exceptional professional experience in the practice of accounting.

Required Related Experience
Applicants holding a doctoral degree require a minimum of two (2) years professional experience in the practice of accounting.

Applicants holding a master's degree require a minimum of ten (10) years professional experience in the practice of accounting with senior-level leadership in accounting either in an accounting firm or a corporation.

Required License/Registration/Certification
Other Desirable
Applicants who provide evidence of previous accomplishments in the activities listed above will receive special consideration. In addition, research and/or experience in the healthcare industry would be an added bonus.

Applicants with CPA and/or other professional certifications will also receive special consideration.
