Finance, Weatherford Chair of Finance, Tenure-Track Faculty

The Jones College of Business Department of Economics and Finance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for the Weatherford Chair of Finance. This is a tenure-track position at the associate or professor rank. The position begins August 1, 2018.

MTSU is a Carnegie Doctoral Research Intensive University with approximately 22,000 students located 35 miles southeast of Nashville. The university offers, through eight colleges and 38 academic departments, baccalaureate instruction in the liberal and fine arts, the sciences, education, business, media and entertainment, and a variety of other fields. Graduate programs are offered at the master's, specialist, and doctoral levels. The Department of Economics and Finance offers undergraduate degrees in economics, finance, insurance, and real estate, a Master of Arts in Economics, a Master of Science in Finance, and a PhD in Economics and supports the MBA program.

Primary area of research/teaching interests is finance.

The chairholder is expected to be an accomplished leader in the academic and/or professional community. Through teaching, research and scholarly activity, the candidate will be expected to provide leadership to the finance field of study and energize the campus by attracting national attention to MTSU .

The holder of the Weatherford Chair of Finance will be expected to:
- Engage in innovative teaching in a specialized field of finance;
- Organize and host workshops that attract top scholars in the field;
- Develop coursework on timely and relevant topics;
- Collaborate with educational and professional colleagues in the field of finance to foster a stronger sense of connection between the University and the business community;
- Create a strong national reputation for the finance program;
- Collaborate with the Jones College of Business Development Officer in fundraising and outreach efforts; and
- Provide leadership to help the University fulfill its goals and commitments to quality and maintaining a student-centered environment.

Required Education
Doctorate in finance or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution is required at the time of appointment.
