Adjunct Faculty - Journalism

Middle Tennessee State University has periodic openings for part-time instructors to teach classes in the School of Journalism for the 2017-2018 academic year. Instructors usually teach afternoon or evening classes, one or two days a week, in journalism, advertising, public relations or visual communication.

The successful candidate is expected to possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in journalism or advertising or public relations or visual communication or other related professional area. This includes:
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the field;
- Knowledge of subject matter and course content for teaching;
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for teaching;
- Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources, and software such as Adobe Creative Suite;
- Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students in field of study;
- Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process;
- Ability to successfully interact professionally with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the general public;
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally;
- Ability and willingness to learn all software specific to Middle Tennessee State University that is required to perform duties.

Required Education
Instructors should have a minimum of a master's degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline they are teaching.

Required Related Experience
Current professional experiences in one or more of these areas is required: journalism-broadcast, print, online, advertising, public relations, graphic and web design. Persons with exceptional professional experiences, and no graduate education, may sometimes be considered for part-time positions.
