Business and Economic Research Center, Post Doctoral Research Associate

Under the direction of the Business and Economic Research Center ( BERC ) director, the Post-Doctoral Research Associate performs a wide range of professional duties concerning regional economic, business, and community issues. This is a full-time, 12-month, temporary appointment with possible annual reassignment for up to a total of three years.

These duties may include economic and fiscal impact analyses; feasibility studies; statistical analyses; economic and business trend analyses; regional performance analyses and benchmarking; survey design to gauge perceptions of businesspersons; literature review on economic and business issues; database creation and maintenance; data presentation using current visualization tools; and other tasks and duties assigned by the BERC director.

The candidate for this position should be able to plan, design, and analyze econometric research models; design methods and procedures for collecting and analyzing data; write and edit reports and prepare illustrations; write computer programs and build applications using APIs to present regional data; and utilize team-building and interpersonal skills to create good working relationships with academic researchers and community groups.

Grant proposal writing is a major component (at least 50%) of the Post-Doctoral Research Associate position.

Required Education
A PhD degree in economics, business, computer science, statistics, public policy, or a related field with strong training in statistics and econometrics.

Required Related Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years experience with Microsoft products including Access;

Good command with at least one of the following statistical software packages: SAS , SPSS , STATA , or R.

Required License/Registration/Certification
Other Desirable
Candidates who have a track record of successful grant-writing experience or those with 1 - 2 years experience with GIS and SQL will receive special consideration.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range for this position is $40,000 to $48,000. Additionally, MTSU provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes the following:
