GENERAL INFORMATION: John Tyler Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time, nine-month teaching position available for January 1, 2018 or August 16, 2018. Primary responsibility is teaching Electrical/Computer Engineering courses. Faculty instructional loads are normally scheduled on an average of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. The faculty member will participate in course and program development and assessment, advise students, assist adjunct faculty in the discipline area, and actively serve on division and college committees. Teaching schedules may include day and evening classes and off-campus assignments. There is no guarantee for summer teaching and overload courses which are based on student interest and enrollment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in an engineering discipline. Related occupational experience or teaching experience in one or more college level engineering courses. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and ability to employ multiple teaching strategies to create student–centered classrooms. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of college faculty, staff and students. Demonstrated ability to utilize strong written and oral communication skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
