Control Room Operator

Operating and supporting academic technologies, including timely transmission, reception, and videotaping of telecourses/teleconferences via HD two-way video-conferencing systems and WebEx; providing quality technical support for traditional classroom and web-based technologies as needed, including PC/ LAN and support; collaborating closely with Pen Center's chief engineer in training, management and supervision of hourly Control Room staff; collaborating closely with ATS , ITS , and the other Regional Centers; providing training and support for faculty, students, staff & other clients using classroom technologies; providing clear and timely documentation via DL logs, Footprints, and other systems to ensure effective communication for all stakeholders.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
An in-depth working knowledge of the operation of all equipment used in the production of live television and broadcast standards and techniques. A complete understanding of the operation of equipment including, but not limited to, audio/video monitors, character generators, audio boards, mics, cameras, production switchers, time base correctors, video and audio playback and record decks, satellite transmitters and receivers, video production switchers, audio/video routing switchers, computers, VTEL equipment, phone conveners and interfaces, lighting and all associated telecommunication equipment used to produce live telecourses/teleconferences, and the ability to trouble-shoot and resolve problems with the same. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, professors, site directors and telecommunication vendors. Ability to lead and direct the work of others.

Level and type of experience
Extensive experience in an educational, commercial, or business television and/or HD 2-way video-conferencing environment. Extensive experience trouble-shooting and resolving technology problems. Experience training and supervising others.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
A Bachelor's degree in communications, technology, and/or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated training and work experience. FCC license. Extensive experience providing technology support in a higher education environment. CTS Certification preferred.

Conditions of Employment
Normal working hours 2:00PM - 10:30PM, Monday through Friday.
Candidate must be able to work 9:00AM - 5:30PM in between semesters and on occasional university breaks when the center has adjusted hours.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ - 33,598
