Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems at Drexel University (www.biomed.drexel.edu) invites nominations and applications for two (2) tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Candidates in the areas of neuroengineering and biomedical instrumentation are particularly encouraged to apply.

Drexel and the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems have a strong history of research and innovation in neuroengineering encompassing of the development of brain-machine interfaces, regenerative medicine, and drug delivery approaches for the treatment of brain and spinal cord injury and neurodegenerative diseases. The School also has a history of innovation and translation of medical technologies for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, including cancer, chronic wounds, and cardiovascular disease. Emerging cross-disciplinary areas of development include immunoengineering and pediatric bioengineering. There is strong support for medical technology commercialization through the endowed Coulter-Drexel Translational Research Partnership Program.

Drexel's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems enjoys outstanding collaborations with the other colleges and schools at Drexel, including the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the School of Public Health, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The School's faculty have also developed an extensive collaboration network with other regional institutions including the University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson Medical School, Temple University.

Qualifications

Candidates who wish to apply must have earned a PhD degree from a top tier academic institution. We are seeking only outstanding candidates committed to leading multi-disciplinary research teams, teaching (at undergraduate and graduate levels) and networking and partnering with medical and clinical faculty and industry. 

Successful candidates are expected to have excellent research and academic credentials in biomedical engineering or a closely related field. They must be prepared to develop interdisciplinary research programs at the forefront of their disciplines and lead translational research programs. They should also be willing to participate in teaching and curriculum development, as well as supervise student research projects, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. 

Candidates with a track record of externally funded research will be given a favorable consideration. Entry-level faculty must demonstrate potential to perform competitively.

Essential Functions

-Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
-Conducting cutting edge sponsored projects in basic, applied and translational research.
-Mentoring students and junior faculty members.
-Participating and leading institutional academic committees and holding leading roles in national and international scientific organizations/societies.
