Research Scientist

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) (multiple positions), to create, support, and disseminate new knowledge in logistics, supply chain management (SCM), transportation, and related fields. Will actively participate in both academic- and practitioner-oriented conferences, symposia, and meetings; generate, submit, and have research-oriented papers accepted in peer-refereed scholarly journals, academic proceedings, trade journals, and as CTL working papers; and participate in corporate outreach and educational programs offered/supported by CTL, including teaching executive and graduate-level courses. The objective of the research team is to introduce and mainstream new concepts and approaches to both practitioners and thought leaders. Will be expected to participate in existing research and develop original research topics within a twenty-four month time period; work with the other five Global SCALE Centers in Europe, Asia, and South America in research, educational, and outreach activities; and be recognized as a thought leader within the logistics and SCM field.

MIT CTL conducts research, outreach, and educational activities with a number of companies, organizations, and governments; conducts research initiatives across a wide range of SCM, logistics, and transportation topics; and runs a portfolio of SCM programs including the online MicroMasters credential, a SCM master's and doctoral track, and executive education courses.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in transportation, operations management, logistics, supply chain management, general management, or related field; excellent communication and presentation skills; relevant experience in supply chain, international operations, logistics, and/or transportation research; strong grounding in an academic environment and with proposal writing; ability to work with industry and government agencies; history of working without significant on-going, hands-on guidance/direction; and willingness to contribute to CTL's broader mission.
