GENERAL INFORMATION: John Tyler Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. With campuses in Chester and Midlothian in the metropolitan Richmond area and at off-campus classrooms throughout the area, John Tyler Community College provides quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with a staff and in collaboration with the administrative council, faculty, and staff, the Director of Institutional Effectiveness administers a comprehensive program of assessment for the College, coordinating the efforts of all units. The Director manages statistical and narrative reports as required for external agencies including the VCCS, accrediting agencies, SCHEV, and the federal government. The Director coordinates the institution's long-range planning efforts and prepares appropriate narrative documents and reports to support and guide student success efforts. The Director serves as the stated liaison person with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC) and coordinates accreditation activities, reports, and reaffirmation processes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: Master's degree, the ability to communicate, and use technology (including SIS) efficiently and effectively. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check required. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree, teaching, and community college experience are preferred. A competitive candidate will have training and experience to manage a comprehensive assessment plan and institutional planning activities; work successfully across campus departments; and lead the accreditation activities of SACS-COC.
