Mechanical Engineering Technology - Assistant Professor Tenure Track

OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY , DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a full-time faculty position in its Mechanical Engineering Technology Program with emphasis on welding, material science, and manufacturing processes. The position is at the level of tenure track Assistant Professor. The position will commence in the Fall 2018.
The successful candidate is expected to teach topics in the following areas: welding, material science, material testing, and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate is expected to provide leadership in welding technologies and manufacturing as well as engage regional industries and appropriate professional organizations. Additional expectations for this position include the performance of department and university service and the development of a research program supported by external funding and scholarly activity.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Excellent communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or closely related field is required by the expected date of hire. For all candidates some industrial experience is required and professional experience in maritime field is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in maritime field is preferred.
