Assistant or Associate Professor of Silviculture

Position Summary:
The Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track, teaching and research position in the area of intensive silviculture, to be hired at the assistant or associate professor level, as appropriate for candidate experience and accomplishments. The faculty member will also serve as the co-director of the Forest Productivity Cooperative ( FPC ), an industry-university partnership that integrates research, technology transfer, and continuing education in the southeastern US and Latin America. FPC co-directorship represents a partnership between Virginia Tech, North Carolina State University, Universidad de Concepci n (Chile), and Universidad de Santa Catarina (Brazil).
The start date for this position will be between May - August 2018

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with emphasis in silviculture, with strong promise for developing an outstanding program of teaching, research, and outreach. For the rank of Associate Professor, appropriate candidate experience and accomplishments are required.
- Forest management experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in forestry
- Experience in plantation forests
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with industry and/or agency partners.
