Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Biology seeks qualified candidates for a newly authorized, full-time position in Molecular & Cellular Neuroscience, beginning in the 2018-2019 academic year. The position is for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The new faculty member is expected to participate in the interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program housed in the Departments of Biology and Psychology. The Department of Biology has 48 full-time faculty members serving more than 1,600 majors and students from associated university programs at the Lake Shore Campus on Chicago s north side. The incumbent is expected to run a productive research laboratory, involve undergraduate and graduate students in their research, and be competitive for external funding. She or he will also teach two courses per semester supporting our new interdisciplinary neuroscience major. Researchers in all areas of neuroscience are welcome to apply but preference will be given to those with molecular and cell biology-based approaches to issues in neuroscience.

Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field, postdoctoral research experience, and proven excellence in research and in teaching at the college level, and must be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
