Audiovisual Coordinator

The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute ( VTCRI ) and the Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health Graduate Program ( TBMH ) seeks a creative and skilled audiovisual professional to provide technical support of all audiovisual systems, teleconference equipment and live web broadcasts. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the audiovisual (AV) coordinator will support various projects where he/she is expected to be innovative, apply creative thinking, and capitalize on opportunities for process improvement and enhancement.
The the audiovisual (AV) coordinator will also be responsible for management of technical services, including events, audio-visual equipment, and relevant operations. The incumbent will be also responsible for software systems used to schedule and track AV systems and services; performs troubleshooting and minor repair of AV equipment and systems; and conducts periodic scheduled inspections of AV equipment to determine needed maintenance, repairs and replacements. The AV Coordinator will provide complex consulting-based services with users to determine AV functional specifications. Additionally, this role involve documentation, analysis, and testing of AV equipment. The AV coordinator must exercise professional judgment in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Specific areas of responsibility include production of creative services deliverables, and continuous advancement of design and technology skills.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in multimedia, multimedia and visual communications, IT or related field or equivalent training and experience.
- Familiarity with AV systems and their components, including Crestron automation and control systems.
- Experience with Polycom Room Systems and other forms of software based teleconferencing systems
- Basic Mac/PC troubleshooting and MS Office Suite skills.
- Experience using professional equipment, including cameras, lighting, rigging, and audio recording gear.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently, under high pressure and short timelines, and with consistently exceptional results.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a University setting, with preference for a medical school and/or research environment
- Experience with Wirecast, Ncast, Skype, WebEx, BlueJeans, Google Hangouts and Polycom Room Systems.
