The Department of Psychology at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a Lecturer position beginning Spring 2018.

This is an academic-year position, with anticipated renewal, which begins each September one week before Labor Day and concludes on Commencement Day the following May. The position is anticipated to begin in January (spring semester) 2018.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Teach three to four courses (or 12 credit-hour equivalent) per semester in the undergraduate Psychology program on URI's Kingston campus with primary instructional emphasis on quantitative and research methods in psychology and secondary emphasis on introductory psychology or intermediate levels of psychology (e.g., behavior disorders, personality).

As needed, assist with development and delivery of new courses and online versions of current courses.

Hold regular office hours for advising and consulting students.

Participate in appropriate departmental- and college-level service activities as they pertain to assigned instructional responsibilities, including attending Psychology Department meetings and serving on the Undergraduate Psychology Committee.

Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED :

1. Master's degree in Psychology.

2. Educational background in quantitative and research methods in psychology.

3. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

4. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups.

5. Demonstrated experience teaching diverse learners at college and university levels.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication skills.

PREFERRED :

1. Doctoral degree in Psychology.

2. Two years of experience in undergraduate teaching of courses in the areas of quantitative and research methods in psychology.
