Duties and Responsibilities | APPLICATION DEADLINE : This is an open until filled search. First consideration will be given to complete applications received by October 27, 2017. Second consideration may be given to applications received by November 17, 2017. Applications received subsequent to second consideration date (November 17, 2017) may not be given full consideration. BASIC FUNCTION : Responsible for the security of information technology systems and initiatives, the analysis of security needs, and for identifying opportunities for integrated security solutions throughout the University. Provide authoritative security assistance to customers. Report to the Associate Director of Information Security, and work with both ITS and non- ITS departments to coordinate security efforts and resources in order to maximize the security of IT and IS systems throughout the University's campuses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Proactively monitor networks and systems for potential threats and provide incident response. Serve on ad-hoc computer advisory committees and projects. Maintain a high security knowledge level on the latest threats and on state-of- the-art technology. Provide administration of security infrastructure, including IDS / IPS , firewalls, VPN , authentication servers, Linux/Windows Servers. Assist Associate Director of Information Security in security needs for the university networking environment. Provide knowledge base of technical security consultation to customers. Work with groups to solve technical problems and develop appropriate solutions. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform all duties on a distributed basis as prioritized by the ITS Associate Director of Information Security. Perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Coordinate and work with various university department heads to develop proper security administration and make best practice recommendations based on the working environment. LICENSES , TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT : UNIX System hardware & software, Networks, Printers, Desktop/Laptop computer systems. |
Required Qualifications | REQUIRED : 1. Bachelor's degree 2. Demonstrated experience with security technology including: Firewall technology, Intrusion Detection and Prevention. 3. Demonstrated experience handling VPN with 2 factor authentication, and Vulnerability Assessments. 4. Demonstrated experience with Network Access Control Solutions, Wireless Security and Anti-Virus. 5. Demonstrated familiarity with TCP /IP networking and protocols. 6. Minimum of four years of Information Security experience including three years of Linux server security administration experience. 7. Demonstrated technical background and experience supporting technical security solutions. 8. Demonstrated ability to address security needs in a distributed environment. 9. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people. 10. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 11. Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills. 12. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. |
Preferred Qualifications | PREFERRED : 1. Bachelor's degree (preferably in a related technical field); CISSP , GIAC - GSEC , GIAC - GCIA , Security+, or equivalent certification. 2. Demonstrated experience with Palo Alto and Cisco Firewalls and Iptables. 3. Demonstrated experience with Cisco Series of Switches and Linux Operating Systems. 4. Demonstrated familiarity with Identity Finder or equivalent Data Loss Prevention solutions. 5. Demonstrated experience with Managed Security Service Providers, Snort/Suricata. 6. Demonstrated experience in supporting a university security infrastructure. 7. Demonstrated experience with security auditing, penetration testing and hardening networks and systems. 8. Demonstrated experience automating tasks using a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, Perl, PHP , etc. 9. Demonstrated experience with Information Security Frameworks and auditing. 10.
