Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology, within the College of Science ( COS ) at Virginia Tech, is seeking a tenure-track Developmental Psychologist (at the assistant professor level) who can add strength to the Developmental Science section of the department. The area of focus is open, though candidates should show evidence of scholarly distinction in typical or atypical development in infancy, childhood, and/or adolescence. Candidates with research programs that address decision-making and can contribute to the university wide-focus on the Adaptive Brain and Behavior (https://provost.vt.edu/destination-areas/da-brain.html) are particularly appealing. The Adaptive Brain and Behavior Destination Area is focused on the transdisciplinary study of brain plasticity particularly as it pertains to decision making, physical and psychological trauma, and healthy development across the lifespan. Faculty are working together in this area to build understanding of the brain-behavior relationship in health and the human condition to enhance resilience and well-being in the world's diverse communities. The successful candidate will be expected to grow an innovative research program, evidenced by a record of high-quality publications and external research support, combined with a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate level education and mentorship. Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field. Candidates will be expected to grow an innovative research program, evidenced by a record of high quality publications and external research support, combined with a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate level teaching and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates who can contribute to an overarching department initiative to enhance diversity and our understanding of diversity are particularly encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary teaching and/or research in areas that align with Virginia Tech's university-wide, multi-disciplinary focus on the Adaptive Brain and Behavior.
