Brief Summary:
The Physician Assistant Program* at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a member of the principal faculty. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team that is focused on establishing a strong, successful Physician Assistant Program. The Program's Principal Faculty work with the Program Director and staff in Marist's new Allied Health Building. This new facility contains dedicated resources for the PA program to include offices for faculty and support staff, conference room, high-tech classroom, on-site suite of clinical simulation labs and a traditional gross anatomy facility to support the learning experience. This is a full-time, 12-month position that will report to the Program Director and will work closely with students and program faculty and staff. Salary and rank for the position will commensurate with experience and qualifications. *The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Marist College Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Marist College. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program's ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach didactic courses in the areas of clinical medicine, issues in healthcare, diagnostic data and interpretation, and related clinical areas to include pharmacology and behavioral medicine
- Assist with student advising
- Supervise students in didactic and clinical courses and activities
- Assist with admission, application review and interviews
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience in a higher education setting, demonstrated effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment, and a history of successful time management. In addition, the following are additional skills and qualifications required for the position:
- Current NCCPA certification
- Current license or eligibility as a physician assistant in the State of New York
- 1-3 years' academic experience
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (primary care), preferred
- A Master's degree in a related field
