Position Summary
The Department of Horticulture and the Plant Resilience Institute at Michigan State University invite applications for a tenure system Assistant or Associate Professor position from individuals using innovative experimental approaches to study fundamental plant responses to the environment with a focus on abiotic andbiotic constraints to horticultural crop productivity. We seek applicants with expertise in areas including, but not limited to, the impacts of temperature extremes, elevated carbon dioxide, water stress and other environmental factorson vegetative and reproductive development, particularly growth cycle/dormancy regulation, nutrient utilization, and plant-rhizosphere/-phyllosphere interactions.

This position is part of MSU'sGlobal Impact Initiative that is recruiting 100 top-level researchers to MSU over five years. MSU has a world-class plant science community comprising more than 150 faculty members conducting a wide range of plant research spanning the lab-to-field continuum in natural and agricultural ecosystems. The Departmentof Horticulture at MSU has strong research programs that range from basic plant biology to applied science addressing horticultural problems.

The Plant Resilience Institute is focused on understanding the mechanisms of plant resilience to environmental stress and applying that understanding to meet 21st-century challenges of climate change and agricultural production. We are seeking candidates who show exceptional promise to develop an excellent, externally funded research program addressing compelling research questions relevant to plant resilience in horticulture. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute high-quality teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level and actively participate in professional service activities.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Plant biology, horticulture, or related

Minimum Requirements
A PhD in a plant science or related science. Post-doctoral experience. Record of scholarly productivity. Demonstration of excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
Experience teaching/mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
