Development Associate for National Capital Region

Position Summary:
Virginia Tech's Division of Advancement has opened offices in Arlington and added key members to its team in support of the university's push to increase its prominence and impact in the National Capital Region. This new position will provide high-end administrative and program support of the fundraising efforts on behalf of the Principal Gifts Team. This position will also support the general administrative needs of the Advancement team located at the NCR office. He/She will coordinate administrative activities, including contact with the public, making travel arrangements, scheduling appointments and meetings, and processing memoranda. Reporting to the Principal Gifts Officer, this position will assist in composing correspondence for the Principal Gifts Officer to follow-up with donors, volunteers and staff. Serves as point of contact and liaison for Principal Gifts Officers when traveling. Answers questions, researches answers, and/or refers to other offices when appropriate. Represents the department by greeting guests and answering telephone inquiries and emails from donors and university executives in a friendly, knowledgeable manner, maintaining confidentiality in all their work.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience providing administrative support services to executive or senior level individuals.
Demonstrated experience utilizing software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Demonstrated experience with meeting, event, and travel arrangements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education setting.
Associates degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Demonstrated experience with Banner or similar relational database.
Demonstrated experience with SharePoint or similar applications.
