Workforce Education/ Applied Science - Assistant/ Associate Professor

Old Dominion University's Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies seeks applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant/ Associate professor (10-month appointment with opportunity for summer employment), beginning July 2018. The candidate for this position should expect to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Workforce Education, Applied Sciences and Trade and Industry Education, advise undergraduate students, mentor MS and Ph.D. students, conduct research to obtain external funds, produce scholarly publications, present research findings, be active in international professional associations, and contribute to the university's service mission. The candidate will also be responsible to work on Workforce Education and Applied Sciences articulation agreements and to lead similar programs as appropriate. Teaching expertise in undergraduate professional courses and technical courses taught within the department's programs. Ability to instruct courses in Trade and Industry Education in concentrations such as communication systems, mechatronics, electronics or related areas. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Responsibilities include: (1) producing high quality research for publication in top-ranked journals; (2) teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate level, face-to-face and distance-education courses; (3) seeking external funding opportunities to support scholarly activities; (4) advising and directing graduate and doctoral student coursework and research; and (5) participating in initiatives directed toward program growth and development. Experience and/or ability to work successfully with diverse populations and to prepare others to do so is desired.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Workforce Education or related areas to enable the candidate to specialize in an area of teaching and research is required
