Business and Industry Training - Assistant/ Associate Professor

Old Dominion University's Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies seeks applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant/ Associate Professor (10-month appointment with opportunity for summer employment) in Business and Industry Training beginning August 2018. Candidates with expertise in business and industry training, workforce development and instructional design are encouraged to apply. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Required Responsibilities include: (1) producing high quality research for publication in top-ranked journals; (2) teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate level, face-to-face and distance-education courses in workforce education; (3) seeking external funding opportunities to support scholarly activities; (4) advising and directing graduate and doctoral student coursework and research; and (5) participating in initiatives directed toward program growth and development. Teaching expertise and interest in the following fields is desirable: business and industry training, organizational and workforce development, organizational performance improvement, instructional design, adult education, big data and learning analytics, instructional systems, instructional methods, instructional technology, and program evaluation and assessment. Previous college and/or business and industry training, curriculum development, and assessment experience is desirable. Experience in delivery face-to-face courses and different distance learning modalities is desirable, e.g., synchronous, asynchronous, and blended via televised and web-based delivery systems. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and a willingness to work in a multicultural setting, as well as a commitment to participating in program governance and decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
A Ph.D. or equivalent is required of applicants in fields related to business and industry training, workforce development, and instructional design that will enable the candidate to specialize in an area of research, teaching, and service.
