Position Summary:
The Department of Economics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of macroeconomics. This is an Open Rank search. The Department has a strong theory group and is in the process of growing the applied areas. Candidates who complement or extend existing research areas are particularly encouraged to apply. The new hire will be expected to establish or continue development of scholarly activities and professional capabilities, conduct research, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, participate in department, college, and university governance, and occasionally be required to travel to professional meetings and conferences. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across the university on the Intelligent Infrastructure for Human-Centered Communities Destination Area (http://provost.vt.edu/destination-areas.html). Required Qualifications:
To receive consideration, applicants must have:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent in economics or a closely related field earned or firmly expected by the August 2018 appointment start date
- A publication track record in well-cited, peer reviewed journals that are commensurate with experience. Candidates who are still in graduate school or have completed their Ph.D. less than a year ago must have at least two working papers that are under review or ready for submission
- Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
