Landscape Designer

Position Summary:
The Community Design Assistance Center ( CDAC ) in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies is searching for a Landscape Designer to serve as a designer on landscape architecture projects. Project responsibilities include site inventory and analysis, background research for projects, and conceptual design development. This position works alongside student landscape designers, presents at community meetings, works efficiently within project budgets, and writes project reports. Travel will be required for 6 or more trips per semester and will sometimes include overnight travel, depending on project locations.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience and/or understanding of the design process from site inventory and analysis through conceptual design development.
- Strong hand and/or computer rendering skills.
- Graphics skills related to page layout for reports and presentation boards.
- High proficiency in software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketchup, AutoCad, ArcView GIS , and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Must be a creative and flexible thinker with the ability to tailor work to meet the needs of various communities.
- Motivated, self-starter comfortable working independently and in teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent level of training or practical experience.
- Community workshop facilitation experience.
- Advanced GIS experience.
