Software Engineer, Visual Analytics Lab

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), to contribute directly to the research and development activities needed to build and grow the newly formed Visual Analytics Lab . Will make groundbreaking ideas for the next generation of interactive, audio-visual user interfaces and experiences a reality with state-of-the-art visualization technology, including AR, VR, and MR systems.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in computer science or related field; at least three years' relevant experience; experience developing innovative software applications for high-performance, interactive-visualization; experience in the field of computer graphics related to the development of interactive, visual user interfaces and experiences (UI/UX) leveraging conventional touch-enabled display methods; proficiency with front-end software development for conventional audio-visual user interfaces (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript or equivalents); sound understanding of front-end software development for 2D and/or 3D graphical user interfaces, including development environments such as Visual Studio, Unity etc.; two years' experience programming in Python or comparable high-level language; experience with back-end software development (e.g., PHP, SQL, Node.js, Angular.js or equivalents); ability and willingness to quickly learn new programming/scripting languages; self-motivation; organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a highly interdisciplinary team of researchers, developers, and students at all levels of seniority and experience. The following skills/experience are preferred: C++, C#, and/or Java; AR/VR/MR technology; advanced methods of data science and mathematical modeling; managing computational complexity to optimize the efficiency and performance of advanced algorithms; developing code that processes and organizes data stored in professional-grade relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) or data warehouses; and human-computer interaction for improved UI/UX design.
