Research Associate, Visual Analytics Lab

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), to lead, supervise, and contribute to the research and development activities needed to build and grow the newly formed Visual Analytics Lab . Will make groundbreaking ideas for the next generation of interactive, audio-visual user interfaces and experiences a reality with state-of-the-art visualization technology, including AR, VR, and MR systems.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: master's (Ph.D. preferred) in computer science/related field; track record of developing innovative software applications for high-performance, interactive-visualization; computer graphics experience related to the development of interactive, visual user interfaces and experiences (UI/UX) leveraging conventional, touch-enabled and sensor-equipped display methods; proficiency and experience in front-end software development for conventional audio-visual user interfaces, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.; experience with software development for 2D and/or 3D graphical user interfaces, including development environments such as Visual Studio and Unity or equivalents; three years' experience programming in Python or comparable high-level language; experience in back-end software development, including PHP, SQL, Node.js, Angular.js, etc.; ability and willingness to quickly learn new programming/scripting languages; familiarity with advanced methods of data science and mathematical modeling; solid project management skills; self-motivation; and ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and cosupervise/guide the work of others. Preferred skills/experience include: software development in C++, C#, and/or Java; developing software applications for interactive user experiences with AR/VR/MR technology; knowledge of and experience managing computational complexity to optimize the efficiency and performance of advanced algorithms to create high-performing, scalable computational systems; experience developing code that processes and organizes data stored in professional-grade relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) or data warehouses; and experience with human-computer interaction for improved UI/UX design.
