Exercise Science Assistant Professor

The Exercise Science program in the Department of Human Movement Sciences at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning in the fall semester of 2019. Duties include teaching courses in the exercise science curriculum, developing and maintaining a nationally visible research program, and involvement in the PhD concentration in Human Movement Sciences. Also, the candidate will provide service to the university, college, department, profession and community.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
The applicant must have the demonstrated ability to teach courses such as exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and other coursework relevant to the field of exercise science. The applicant must be able to supervise graduate (MS and PhD) student research and serve on committees. Candidates must show potential to develop and maintain a nationally visible research program, including grant submission that is consistent with the research mission of the Department of Human Movement Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
The successful applicant is expected to have a doctoral degree in exercise science/exercise physiology, with a preferred focus on adaptations to resistance training.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
A preferred certification is Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist ( CSCS ) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association ( NSCA ).
