Athletic Communications Assistant

Bucknell University is seeking applications for an Athletic Communications Assistant within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Bucknell is a highly selective, privately endowed comprehensive university of 3,400 students that is a member of the NCAA Division I (FCS in Football) and the Patriot League for 23 of 27 varsity sports. The University is located in Lewisburg on a 450-acre campus in central Pennsylvania's Susquehanna River Valley. New York City, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia are each within a 3 ½ hour drive from Lewisburg.

The Athletic Communications Assistant assists the Associate Athletic Director of Athletic Communications in promoting the department and its student-athletes through live and on-demand video features, media relations, press releases, social networking, web site, and other print and electronic media.

Responsibilities include:

1. Serve as primary media/communications contact for one or more sports.
2. Produce and edit video features and visual designs for BucknellBison.com website, special events, digital displays, and social media.
3. Assist in the production of live webcasts for Bison Vision/Patriot League Network.
4. Assist in the production of departmental publications, including media guides, gameday programs, posters, and schedule cards.
5. Write press releases and feature stories promoting the department and its student-athletes.
6. Help foster positive relationships with local and national media, as well as pitch story ideas on Bucknell teams and student-athletes.
7. Assist in the daily maintenance and development of the official Bucknell Athletics web site.
8. Help manage press facilities at home events.
9. Maintain accurate statistics, records, and files for teams and student-athletes.
10. Assist in coordination of Senior Awards Banquet.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with video editing and production, as well as website design
2. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and student-athletes having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives

Physical Demands:
1. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
