Open Rank, Tenure Track in German Studies

The Department of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics at Bucknell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, open rank, ABD considered, with a focus on German-Jewish literature and culture post-1800 to begin August 2018. Dedication to the beginning and intermediate German language sequence is essential. The successful candidate will teach courses in beginning and intermediate German, as well as courses in the target language on German-Jewish literature and culture. Furthermore, the successful candidate will teach courses in English on German-Jewish literature and culture. The successful candidate should show an interest in collaborating with faculty in related disciplines on a potentially team-taught course and be willing to teach a first-year, writing-intensive seminar. We seek a teacher-scholar who will be able to develop the German Studies Program within the department and contribute to the interdisciplinary Jewish Studies Program. Native or near-native fluency in German and experience teaching German at the college level are required. The successful candidate should have completed a Ph.D. in German or related field by time of appointment, ABD considered, and show scholarly potential in German-Jewish literature or culture.
