Associate Professor, Educational Leadership & Postsecondary Education

Position Description:

University of Northern Iowa's Department of Education Leadership & Postsecondary Education seeks applicants for a tenured nine-month appointment as Associate Professor with possibility for summer teaching, beginning August 2018. Responsibilities will include teaching educational leadership courses in principalship, superintendency and international teacher leader programs; supervising student internships; serve on and direct doctoral dissertation committees and student research papers; collaboration on program curricula development; and scholarship that benefits students, educators and school systems. Educational Leadership faculty conduct conferences, workshops, and seminars; work collaboratively with a program unit; and are professionally involved in the university, local, state, regional, and national levels. Successful applicants should have teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areaas: educational leadership, educational policy, program evaluation, qualitative methodologies, and/or mixed methods research designs.

Education Requirements:

Earned doctorate in educational leadership or related field required.

Required Qualifications:

Additional requirements include demonstrated evidence of providing leadership and professional development for teachers that supports student achievement; scholarly productivity and leadership service to schools; experience in higher education towards the preparation of future educational leaders; and successful administrative experience in PK-12 schools are required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with experiences in public policy related to education; knowledge of ELCC standards for school and district level leadership; school leadership working in international school settings; experience and comfort with multiple roles of distance education instruction; and demonstrated success or the potential for success in seeking external grants and contracts. Seeking candidates with experience in urban and/or diverse settings who will promote equity, social justice, diversity, and a global perspective and embed these concepts in our leadership programs.
