Brief Summary:
This position is responsible for providing library public services functions to students, faculty, and staff. In addition, the incumbent supports designated academic departments and programs through collection development, online research resource creation, and library instructional support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate workflow for public services activities and resources including: books, reserve readings, dvds, laptops, collaborative room keys.
- Provide public services management by: training, scheduling, and supervising student assistants; monitoring building use activity; assessing building problems and referring them to the appropriate parties; maintaining accurate calendar and schedule information.
- Provide Research Services by: offering reference support in person, on the phone, and via email; in consultation with the appropriate faculty, developing course and subject-specific online research tools, offering in-class instruction in support of research assignments.
- Develop and manage library collections in all formats in support of designated departments and programs.
- Participate in the professional activities of the library including: contributing to discussions regarding policies and procedures; monitoring developments in librarianship and higher education and thoughtfully considering their applications locally
Qualifications:
MLS Degree or equivalent required along with 1-3 years of relevant experience. A detailed knowledge of searching academic databases is required for assisting students with reference questions. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
