Position Description:

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Paralegal. The Board of Regents is the statutory governing body for the University of Iowa (which includes the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics), Iowa State University, the University of Northern Iowa, the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School. The Board's staff offices are located in Urbandale Iowa.

The Board Office Paralegal will perform paralegal work and provide related administrative support to the Board Office staff, and will work under the general direction of the Board Counsel and the Associate Counsel/Director of Human Resources. Duties include legal research, preparation of memoranda and legal documents, and administrative and general office support. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate and balance overload work with other administrative staff.

Education Requirements:

The position requires, at minimum, graduation from an accredited paralegal program or experience equal to two years of full-time work as a paralegal or similar legal support capacity under the supervision of a practicing attorney.

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects, utilize legal research resources at a high level, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be familiar with computerized office applications.
