TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Biological Engineering-Synthetic Biology Center (SBC), to join the lab of Professor Ron Weiss as part of an NIH-funded academic team that aims to develop DNA- and RNA-based circuitries for precision control of protein expression to guide mammalian cell fate decisions. Primary responsibility involves aiding in the production and validation of large numbers of DNA and RNA cellular reprogramming genetic devices. Laboratory work includes molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, transfection, immunofluorescent staining, flow cytometry, microscopic image acquisition, and data preparation. Other responsibilities include preparing biweekly progress reports with thoughtful presentation of experimental results, issues, and updates including future plans; providing careful documentation of experimental procedures; and maintaining confidentiality and security of project information.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a B.S./B.A. degree in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or other relevant scientific field; a minimum of two years' laboratory technician experience; experience with basic aseptic molecular and cellular biology and mammalian cell culture technique; experience with basic chemistry/biology lab techniques; laboratory experience with basic experimental procedures; excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; solid organizational and planning skills; self-motivation and detail-orientation; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, follow complex instructions, plan and troubleshoot experiments independently, multitask, carefully document work in written records, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
