Development Officer for Special Gifts


Brief Summary:

Responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of the next generation of major and principal gift donors. Develops and sustains strong relationships with Marist alumni, parents, and friends and secures philanthropic support for key institutional priorities. As the College begins its next comprehensive fundraising campaign, this position will be required to contribute significantly to the development of a pipeline of new gifts in support of the fundraising goals of the College. This position will cultivate and solicit donors capable of making between $5,000 and $25,000 to the College, including, but not limited to the Marist Fund.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct personal visits with development prospects, capable of making gifts between $5,000 and $25,000.
  • Solicit and secure gifts within this range for a wide variety of institutional priorities, including, but not limited to the Marist Fund.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and gift and legacy planning officers to develop key prospects as their capacity and inclination moves beyond special gifts.
  • Recruit and manage key volunteers for various boards and leadership opportunities.
  • Actively support reunion fundraising efforts.
  • Support Advancement, Alumni and Special events and activities throughout the year.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned in a safe and responsible manner.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of development or relevant experience required, preferably in a higher education setting. Travel required primarily in the tri-state area. Must have high-level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. An ability to think strategically and develop and implement thoughtful development strategies is essential. Must be energetic, self-directed, and committed to the mission of Marist College
