Assistant/Associate Director of Alumni Relations


Brief Summary:

The AD of Alumni Relations will assist the Executive Director of Alumni Relations with developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement strategy and program for more than 40,000 Marist alumni that supports the Office of College Advancement's fundraising goals, and closely aligns to the College's strategic plan. Through targeted communication, outreach, events, and volunteer management, the AD will focus on enhancing alumni loyalty and pride and the development of a life-long relationship with the Marist community.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, recruit, and manage reunion volunteers for class reunion celebrations each year. Work with these volunteers to plan, market, and execute their reunion celebrations while assisting with the planning, marketing, and execution of general Homecoming and Reunion Weekend activities.
  • Manage marketing and communication initiatives for the Alumni Office, for both event promotion and general College news, using the iModules platform and social media tools such as Facebook and Linkedln.
  • Identify, cultivate, recruit, and manage alumni volunteers for the Alumni Association Executive Board (inc. chapter reps and members-at-large) and work with them to plan, market, and execute regional and special events. Identify, cultivate, recruit, and manage alumni volunteers for the Young Alumni Advisory Team and work with them to increase donor participation, increase engagement and attendance at events, and enhance communication efforts with graduates of the last decade.
  • Attend and manage alumni and College Advancement events both on campus and throughout the United States, many of which are on weeknights and weekends.
  • Consistently create and maintain content for Marist Connect, the Alumni Office's web site and online community, as well as the Marist Minute e-newsletter. Includes identifying and researching feature stories and alumni profiles.
  • Work closely with the Office of Annual Giving on fundraising strategies, including the development and implementation of a reunion giving program.
  • Represent the Office of Alumni Relations and College Advancement with other departments on campus, on various institutional committees, and at a variety of events.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising or related experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Demonstrated working knowledge of industry best practices for annual giving. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills and an ability to work as part of a high-performing team are essential. Ability and commitment to travel and attend evening and weekend events as required. Travel required primarily in the tri-state area and New York City.
