Postdoctoral Associate

Position Summary:
We invite applications for a postdoctoral or research associate position in theoretical Quantum Communications and Quantum Information Processing in the Physics Department of Virginia Tech. The focus of the position is on Quantum Communications, Quantum Control, and related topics, including spin-photon interfaces, multi-photon entanglement and graph states and the physics of quantum emitters in solid-state systems. The position includes many opportunities for travel both to present in conferences and to collaborate with leading experimental groups.

Required Qualifications:
The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in either Quantum Optics, Quantum Information, or Theoretical Condensed Matter. A strong background in Quantum Mechanics is necessary and knowledge of fundamental concepts of Quantum Information or Quantum Computing is required.
  • Background in Quantum Information and/or Quantum Computing
  • Advanced knowledge of quantum mechanics
  • Experience with programming language
  • Good collaborative skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of quantum optics
  • Knowledge of theoretical condensed matter and/or semiconductor physics
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
