Doctoral degree in Special Education or a related field;
Strong ability or potential to teach a variety of courses in the mild/moderate area to graduate and undergraduate students using evidence-based practices
Demonstrate awareness of and a sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience

Qualifications: Preferred
Minimum of two years of special education teaching experience in K-12 settings;
Awareness and sensitivity to educational goals of a multicultural population;
Knowledge about core content subject matter, Universal Design for Learning, and multi-tiered systems of
support (e.g., Response to Intervention);
Excellence (or potential for excellence) in teaching and scholarship related to specialty area;
Commitment to engaged pedagogy and service in a faculty learning community;
Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills;
Ability to work in partnership with closely aligned academic disciplines and related practitioners;
Evidence (or potential evidence) of external grant support;
Successful university level teaching and supervision experience.

Responsibilities:
The faculty member is expected to teach graduate, post-baccalaureate, and undergraduate courses in the area of mild/moderate disabilities. We are particularly interested in individuals whose major areas are: reading and literacy; special education assessment; and/or English-language learning who are capable of mentoring and supervising student research. We welcome candidates interested in multiple pedagogical formats (i.e., face-to-face, hybrid, and/or 100% online formats). We are also interested in candidates who are motivated and capable of addressing the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement. The faculty member is expected to engage in focused scholarly endeavors and participate in department, college, university, and community service.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: August 17, 2018
