Job Description
The Case Manager aids students in need of special services as a result of personal crisis, traumatic event, conduct incident, or academic difficulty. Collaborates with departments in the Division of Student Affairs to coordinate referrals to on-campus or community based psychological and medical services. Serves as an advocate that provides support and guidance with university processing (readmission and withdrawal). Coordinates access to on-campus and off-campus services as needed to facilitate retention.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field.
Three years of increasingly responsible full time experience in counseling, social work, or student affairs practice in higher education.
Ability to work some nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field.
Four years of increasingly responsible full time experience in student affairs practices in higher education.
Working knowledge of Maxient conduct software and Banner.
Experience in similar position or Residence Life positions with on-call intervention duties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of legal and policy issues impacting the work of Student Affairs Professionals.
Knowledge of common issues and challenges facing a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.
Knowledge of the Family Rights Protection Act ( FERPA ).
Knowledge of assessment, risk management and violence prevention strategies and approaches and how to apply them in a university setting.
Knowledge of maintaining electronic records and ability to use office equipment, personal computer, email, and university software/databases.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
Ability to effectively work in a fast paced environment, quickly adapt to changing student needs, and multitask while maintaining organization and thoughtful interactions with colleagues and students.
Ability to maintain composure when faced with crisis and/or high-stress situations, and reserve personal reactions/judgments/opinions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with campus employees and external agencies.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Ability to handle emergency response/crisis intervention.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships within a diverse community.

Salary Range
$46,000 - $50,000

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
•Serves as Case Manager in the Division of Student Affairs providing direct and referral services to students identified by the University community as in need of special assistance on an as needed basis.
•Meets face to face with students, colleagues and others, to learn more about a student's wellbeing, resources needs, and plans.
•Maintains a system of follow up for students who have been referred to campus or community resources, including providing services to encourage compliance with recommendations and care plans.
•Maintains detailed, private reports of interactions with students, including case notes, referrals provided, statistics and follow up. Logs accurate notes into database used by the Division of Student Affairs.
•Works collaboratively with various departments and student service areas on individual action and support plans for students of concern.
•Works to build and maintain relationships with off local service providers, law enforcement, and health care providers to support students and supplement services not available at the University.
•Works collaboratively with various Student Development departments on creating and implementing skills-development, community-building and educational programming workshops and events.
•Exercises maturity needed to consult with, guide and exert influence with faculty and staff managing complex and sometimes emotionally charge student situations. Works well in highly sensitive and emotionally charged situations with a high degree of confidentiality.
•Coordinates 'at risk student' training to university staff and works collaboratively with various departments on creating and implementing skills-development, community-building and educational programming workshops and events.
•Serves as a Chair of the Behavioral Consultation Assessment Team and identifies and assists students that are in need of services.
•Coordinates and assists students with University policies and procedures when returning to campus after hospitalization or from post discharge aftercare.
•Assists in retention and assessment projects.
•Assist students who are seeking medical withdrawal.
•Serves as an advocate for students impacted by crime on campus. Participates in off campus committees such as: Lee County Sexual Assault Response Team ( SART ).
•Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
