Assistant Director of Digital Education


Brief Summary:

The Assistant Director of Digital Education will assist in the leadership integration of digital technology into the College's curriculum and provide assistance to faculty to develop the methodologies and strategies for improving student learning outcomes. S/he will support the use of instructional technology including traditional, hybrid and fully online courses. The Assistant Director will assist the College in generating revenue through its distance learning programs and other technology initiatives. Additionally, s/he will manage internal and external client projects and support initiatives to build entrepreneurial relationships with corporations in emerging technologies.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the leadership and promotion of the integration and use of technology with digital education support services and research.
  • Understand effective pedagogy and instructional design in digital learning.
  • Develop knowledge on content and course management systems to support digital learning.
  • Provide "best in class" support for Marist faculty using digital tools to teach.
  • Support major innovative and emerging digital education projects that impact the campus and external community.
  • Work directly with faculty of all disciplines on technology enhanced and supported activities.
  • Develop instructional and reference materials, newsletters, etc.
  • Plan and implement "state of the art" content delivery systems and methodologies for integration into curriculum.
  • Organize, develop, and deliver workshops and information sessions for faculty to develop their digital skills and expose them to innovative uses of technology in their operating environment;
  • Monitor emerging digital teaching and learning technologies and practices and present findings regularly.
  • Provide reports that quantify and qualify online learning content to assist in determining effectiveness.
  • Participate in committees that address academic concerns regarding digital education and support.
  • Assist in the research and secure significant grants related to digital technologies for teaching, learning, and collaboration.
  • Supervise academic and instructional technology individual contributors.
  • Represent college at regional and national conferences i.e. (EDUCAUSE), initiate workshops and seminars on campus.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and team activities related to curriculum design/development.
  • Publish articles or other content, including social media, on a semi-regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Master's degree in Instructional Technology or related field and a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
