Senior Research Associate

Position Summary:
-Synthesize small molecules to build appropriate compound libraries.
- Purify, characterize, and test for desired biological activity selected compounds.
-Prepare regular written progress reports.
-Submit manuscripts based on work to peer reviewed journals and present results at national conferences.
-Work with faculty supervisor and graduate students.
-Take the initiative in finding solutions to scientific problems that arise on a day-to-day research.
-Pursue research goals with routine consultation, but limited supervision.
-Supervise/train undergraduate or graduate students in laboratory procedures.
-Assist in project design, execution, and interpretation of research results.
-Prepare professional presentations, reports, and publications.
-Engage in collaborative work with peers to achieve research objectives.

Required Qualifications:
-Doctoral degree in chemistry or an appropriate related field.
-Demonstrated skill in organic synthesis of small molecules and their purification and characterization ( NMR ,mass spectrometry, etc.).
-Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a research group.
-Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Strong background in cell biology, pharmacology, or related field.
-Experience with bacterial or baculovirus protein expression system, and protein purification.
-Experience with mammalian cell culture, particularly on melanoma or breast cancer cell line.
-Experience with microscopy tools.
-Experience with in vivo studies.
-Evidence of good project management.
-Publications based on research, as primary author.
-Ability to work under limited supervision.
-Creativity, independence and high motivation.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel in the organization.
