Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President for University Relations, the Director of Campaign Planning is responsible for managing and executing the overall campaign strategy for the University of Maryland's Fearless Ideas Campaign. Overseeing a multi-faceted tactical program, the Director of Campaign Planning will help develop and implement strategies for achieving campaign goals and facilitate action across contributing staff at all levels. The Director will have responsibility for working with Campaign leadership, directing their activities and the meetings of the various campaign committees; executing the campaign's public launch and regional roll-out; oversight of all internal and volunteer campaign communications including campaign reporting and analysis; working with Schools and Units across campus to maximize their campaign success.

Must have the ability to travel 10% of the time and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience:
Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience working with non-profit fundraising organizations. Strategic event management experience, including programmatic conception and production. Experience working directly with high-profile, C-suite executives and/or sophisticated leadership volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Creative and solution oriented person with a desire to help UMD achieve an unprecedented level of fundraising success.
• Understanding of the fundraising process.
• Familiarity with reporting tools and accountability measures.
• Ability to work in and navigate a complex environment.
• Sound judgment and discretion in working with prospects, volunteers, and University leadership.
• Ability to successfully engage and motivate diverse groups of individuals at all levels, including staff, alumni and volunteers.
• Strong organizational and managerial capabilities and excellent follow-through required.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities while being self-directed.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferences:

Experience as a solicitor of major gifts for non-profit organization during a campaign.
Experience in an educational institution, preferably a large research university.
