Position Summary
1.Provide leadership and supervision of an evolving portfolio of applied policy research, outreach and capacity-building in Mali

2.Maintain strong and productive relationships with the Government of Mali, regional organizations such as CILSS, CORAF, ECOWAS, USAID/Mali and key Malian stakeholder organizations including APCAM, OMA, IER, University of Segou, andIPR

3.Contribute to MSU's strong track record of applied research in candidate's area of expertise, including publication in peer-reviewed journals

4.Actively engage in policy outreach and dialogue with key Malian and regional institutions, based on empirical research results from MSU and partner institutions

5. Contribute to human capacity building through active engagement and mentoring of faculty and students at Malian institutions of higher education

6.Manage MSU's Bamako office and supervise local employees

7.Manage a financial advance (imprest account) from MSU in support of project activities, submitting regular expense accounts

8.Prepare and supervise the implementation of contracts and sub-awards to local partner institutions and consultants

9.Provide leadership in seeking for new funding opportunities

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum M.Sc. or equivalent degree in agricultural economics or other allied agricultural fields, Ph.D. preferred
  
• Minimum 10 years experience working in international development
  
• Proven research record
  
• Managerial experience

• Proven record of research.
  
• Managerial experience, including human and financial resources
• Demonstrated experience engaging in ongoing agricultural policy debates in Mali
• Ph.D.
