Assistant Dean for Research - Batten College of Engineering & Technology

The role of the Assistant Dean for Research is to foster and facilitate research among faculty, students, and staff in the Batten College of Engineering and Technology and to assist in the development of new faculty. Working with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, this individual will assist in the creation of plans for increasing external funding across the College consistent with our priorities.
The three-year, term appointment is partially funded on soft money with a percentage to be generated by the incumbent. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the successful candidate's performance and research funding generation.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong record of research and publication; proven success as a skilled educator; the ability to work effectively with diverse groups; commitment to promoting a culture that nurtures diverse forms of inquiry and scholarship; experience in building leadership in research; proven record of promoting research and research partnerships; understanding and familiarity with state and federal funding sources; established record of increasing externally funded research at the department, college or university level; demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate research opportunities; experience with staff and budget management oversight; demonstrated ability to act decisively under stressful situations and effective personal and interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline or a closely related field.
