CITYSCOPE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, Media Lab-Changing Places Group, to focus on the development of the CityScope platform, and to help coordinate the work of an international team of collaborators. Primary responsibilities include software development of new CityScope simulation tools, which may include agent-based modeling of human behavior, simulation of alternative shared-use mobility modes, building and mobility energy consumption, etc.; maintenance and evolution of the CityScope kernel; development of an open-source library thematic models; and database management to store, manipulate, analyze, and visualize numerous CityScope datasets. CityScope is a next generation, tangible, augmented reality platform with three primary objectives: 1) to visualize and understand the meaning of complex urban data and inter-relationships; 2) simulate the impact of multiple urban interventions; and 3) support decision making in a dynamic, iterative, evidence-based process. CityScope platforms are currently being deployed in Shanghai, Beijing, Helsinki, Hamburg, Cambridge, and Andorra.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: master's or Ph.D. degree in computer science or related topics; at least three years' postgraduate experience in respective fields; willingness and ability to explore new CityScope capabilities; interest in multidisciplinary work and ability to work productively and creatively with a team; proficiency with written and spoken English; software development skills (OOP in Java, C++, JavaScript or equivalent; and ability to make independent judgments and strategic decisions. Experience in the development of one or more of the following is required: databases, SQL, OOP (C++ or Java), Android development, and Git/SVN tools; data visualization, HCI, and GIS; and proven GitHub activity and proficiency in revision control.
