Dean of Adult Graduate and Online Learning

Medaille College seeks a Dean of Adult Graduate and Online Learning. This position provides strategic leadership of adult undergraduate degree programs, graduate programs, and online degree programs. The Dean will work in close collaboration with administration, faculty and staff to provide effective coordination of, and support for, existing programs while also leading the identification and implementation of new graduate, adult undergraduate degree completion, and online degree programs that are mission-related and consistent with the College’s strategic planning goals. The Dean will collaborate with the Vice President of Enrollment Management to significantly expand student enrollment and net revenue from fully-online degree programs as a critical dimension of fulfilling the 3030 by 2020 institutional strategic goal. The Dean will be the primary advocate for online education and for developing creative ways of strengthening, differentiating, and administering adult undergraduate and graduate degree completion programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the adult, graduate and online lifecycle for a seamless and efficient student experience:
    • Academics
    • Technology
    • Assessment
    • Regulatory affairs
  • Collaborate with various areas (enrollment, college relations, academic affairs) to strategically expand the college’s brand, marketing reach, and programmatic impact both geographically and through new constituencies in existing locations
  • Facilitate ongoing quality assessment and improvement activities throughout the administrative lifecycle
  • Develop effective processes for academic program review and development
  • Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Serve on the Academic Council and the President’s Cabinet, and other college committees as needed

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Exceptionally strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) and the ability to quickly establish and maintain strong rapport at all levels of the University in order to collaborate effectively and build partnerships inside and outside of the university.
  • History of successful collaboration with students, faculty, and staff from multiple divisions, and community partners
  • Creative manager, capable of handling multiple tasks within a resource constrained environment
  • Experience in working with online technology support partners
  • Experience with small, not-for-profit colleges, with an appreciation for the distinctive opportunities and constraints inherent in the organizational context
  • Knowledge of curriculum and NY State Education policies and procedures, as well as familiarity with standards for online learning
  • Experience in adult education (theory and andragogy) as it relates to online and blended learning modalities, innovation in continuing education practices and policies
  • Familiarity and facility in the use of data to drive decisions and program improvement
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing diverse teams and in championing diversity
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence.
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills (strategic, short- and long-term); strong follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure completion of strategic plans, goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated evidence of a flexible, energetic, creative, and results-oriented leadership style that promotes trust and accountability
  • Prior administrative experience
  • Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred
