Overview

The Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance (JRCPPF) seeks an experienced Assistant Director who will provide support to the faculty director of the Center and oversee the Center's day-to-day operations.

Established in 2011, the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance at the Woodrow Wilson School promotes research and teaching in financial markets and the macro economy with the aim of improving the design and implementation of public policies. JRCPPF offers opportunities for collaborations among students and faculty in the Woodrow Wilson School, other Princeton departments and centers, and the wider policy community. The Center encourages crossing boundaries both within economics and across disciplines such as economics, finance, law, politics, history, and ethics.

The Assistant Director is the primary public face of JRCPPF and plays a vital role in the management and direction of the Center as the principal administrator for our core research, outreach both on campus and beyond. In conjunction with the Director, this individual develops, plans and executes the Center's lecture series, workshops and policy briefings; recruits visiting researchers and policy experts, coordinating the selection and appointment process; develops the Center budget in collaboration with the Director and is responsible for the careful and appropriate management of Center funds and other resources; edits the Center's research blog; manages day-to-day Center operations; cultivates high profile research collaborations and joint public events with other centers and institutions; manages public communications through the website, social media, and print materials; coordinates grant proposal writing as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities



Management and Administration

* Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and strategies designed to enhance professional development and career advancement opportunities for Center students.

* Recruits research specialists, visiting researchers and policy experts, coordinating the selection and appointment process.

* Directs the preparation and distribution of marketing, communications and promotional materials to constituents, in support of the Center's student programs, via web site and printed materials, written correspondence, and social media.

* Coordinates visits involving Center sponsors, high-ranking university representatives, visiting international scholars, government and industry personnel, and others.

* Oversees the planning, coordination, organization, and execution of high-profile activities of the Center, including annual conference, lecture series, workshops, seminars, and policy briefings.

* Participates in the development and enhancement of standard operating procedures and guidelines for all matters related to the Center.

* Represents the Center Director at meetings, including presentation of report results and exchange of information with the University and professional community.



Research

* Overseas research collaborations and joint public events with other centers, programs, and institutions.

* Manages the Center's research blog and other social media activities.

* Provides programmatic support to the Center Director and overseas the Center's research initiatives and activities to establish and achieve common goals and milestones.

* Works closely with the Center Director—and when necessary takes the lead—in developing and writing research grant proposals for additional funding for research relating to the Center's activities.





Budget and Financial Management

* Develops and oversees the Center's budget in close collaboration with the Director and is responsible for the careful and appropriate management of Center funds and other resources.

* Directs the day-to-day operations of the Center and the activities of other Center staff, with responsibility for administrative support functions and details of project management including project financial status and purchasing decisions.

* Prepares and drafts correspondence and written reports such as the annual report, and analyses on the effectiveness of various funding programs.

* Provides technical expertise in grant proposal development, including identifying appropriate team members, leveraging university resources, and coordinating overall proposal production (narrative, budget, etc.) under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of five years' experience in related field.

* Knowledge of or experience working in the finance industry strongly preferred.

* Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision; strong personal initiative; highly self-motivated; demonstrated capacity to multi-task and manage competing priorities while consistently delivering results in a timely manner.

* Enterprising, resourceful, and entrepreneurial work style; ability to actively expand the scope of activities and programming offered by the Center.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work productively and efficiently in a dynamic environment with a high degree of ambiguity and limited structure.

* Ability to interact and function in a cross-disciplinary academic environment.

* Strong organizational and management skills and sound judgment; demonstrated project planning skills.

* Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and discretion; appreciation for the values of higher education and sensitivity to the nuances of academic culture.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Experience with editing and maintaining websites.

* Demonstrated development and fundraising finesse, strategic stewardship and relationship management, comfort, and ease in speaking with current and prospective donors.

* Active listening skills to develop and maintain relationships and build trust and credibility with a diverse set of stakeholders.

* High level of emotional intelligence, judgment and strategic agility. Ability to resolve conflict thoughtfully and with minimal disruption.

* Leadership, management, and staff development skills which exhibit qualities of integrity, trustworthiness, respect and team collaboration.

* Ability to work with confidential and highly sensitive information and data.



Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced degree (MPA, MPP, MBA, JD, etc.).

* Marketing and/or brand management experience.

* Experience with strategic planning in non-profit or higher-education environments.

* Event planning background.
